Why we exist:

For individuals with criminal records, the path to sustainable employment can be filled with barriers. Traditional job markets often reject talented, capable individuals because of their past. EmpowerU ReLaunch is here to change that. We believe that with the right tools, support, and mindset, returning citizens can become successful entrepreneurs, employers, and community leaders.

What You’ll Gain

  • Entrepreneurial Skills: Learn to develop a business idea, create a lean business model, and understand how to legally launch and manage your own enterprise.

  • Mindset Mastery: Build self-confidence, overcome internalized stigma, and harness your lived experiences as leadership tools.

  • Financial Literacy: Understand credit, budgeting, startup costs, and how to secure micro-loans or grants.

  • Communication & Leadership: Master interpersonal, pitching, and conflict-resolution skills for both business and life.

  • Transitional Support: Access mentorship, peer support, and community resources that extend beyond release.

How It Works

EmpowerU ReLaunch is offered within correctional facilities, focusing on individuals within 6 to 12 months of their release date. The program includes:

  1. In-Prison Learning (12 Weeks)
Weekly group sessions that blend real-world business development tools with trauma-informed mental health support and practical soft-skill development.

  2. Transition Coaching
As participants near their release date, we work 1-on-1 to develop realistic action plans, network maps, and resource referrals.

  3. Post-Release Accelerator (3–6 Months)
Alumni receive continued coaching, community support, and potential access to micro-grants to launch their business.

Our Mission
To reduce recidivism by replacing roadblocks with resources and punishment with purpose. We foster dignity, self-sufficiency, and innovation.

Our Story

Why I’m Relaunching EmpowerU — For Re-Entry Entrepreneurs

We grew up figuring it out.

No playbook. No mentors. Just grit, pressure, and the silent belief that maybe—just maybe—we could build something better.

As the daughter of immigrants, I learned early how it feels to be on the outside looking in. To be left out of conversations. To hustle without guidance. To start behind, and still find a way forward.

And I know that feeling doesn’t just belong to kids of immigrants.

It belongs to anyone who’s been locked out of opportunity.
Especially those re-entering society after incarceration—people with ambition, talent, and ideas, but nowhere to put them.
People who are ready to rebuild, but don’t have the network, tools, or support to do it.

I didn’t get here alone.
And I don’t believe they should have to either.

That’s why I’m relaunching Empower U—to offer formerly incarcerated individuals not just a second chance, but a real shot.

A shot at building a business.
A shot at writing a new chapter.
A shot at turning their past into power.

Because I know what it’s like to rise against the odds.
And now I want to help others rise, too.
